B V Raju Institute of Technology (BVRIT) was established in 1997 under the auspices of the Sri Vishnu Educational Society (SVES) by the eminent philanthropist Padmabhushan Dr. B. V. Raju. Since 2014, the institute has been granted autonomous status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is approved by AICTE and affiliated to JNTU Hyderabad, Telangana. The institute is guided by a governing body comprising distinguished professionals from IITs, premier engineering institutions, and government sectors, under the leadership of Sri K. V. Vishnu Raju. The institution follows a strong academic governance framework focused on continuous improvement, quality enhancement, and excellence in technical education.

The institute offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The undergraduate programmes include Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science), Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. At the postgraduate level, the institute offers M.Tech programmes in VLSI Design, Embedded Systems, Electric Vehicle Technology, Electrical Power Systems, Engineering Design, Computer Science and Engineering, Data Science, and Chemical Engineering.

The vision of establishing BVRIT was to provide high-quality technical education in an environment that fosters the holistic development of students. Over the years, the institute has strengthened its academic reputation through innovative teaching–learning practices, outcome-based education, modern infrastructure, industry-aligned curriculum, and strong placement support. It continues to nurture engineering graduates with strong technical competence, ethical values, and professional skills required for global challenges.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at BVRIT was established in 1997. At present, the department offers five undergraduate programmes: Computer Science and Engineering with an intake of 540 students, CSE–Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning with an intake of 180 students, CSE–Data Science with an intake of 180 students, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science with an intake of 180 students, and Computer Science and Business Systems with an intake of 60 students. The department also offers two M.Tech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering and Data Science with an intake of 12 students each.

The department is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced computing facilities, high-speed internet, and wireless networks to support quality education and research. The faculty members, with strong teaching and research expertise, are committed to delivering high-quality technical education and fostering innovation among students.

The department actively promotes industry–institute collaboration by identifying emerging areas of interest and engaging in funded research projects, consultancy services, and collaborative initiatives. The major research areas of the department include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Big Data, Internet of Things, Cyber Security, Image Processing, Information Security, Virtual Reality, Blockchain Technology, Parallel Processing, and Human–Computer Interaction.
